I'm Linda Akey, a dedicated public servant and change leader running for Burien City Council Position 2. I'm a small business owner and consultant with a proven track record of working with diverse stakeholders to deliver results. I'm committed to listening to all sides, finding common ground, and getting things done for the people of Burien.

 

As a City Council member, I will focus on the issues that matter most to voters, including:

 

• Infrastructure: I will invest in our roads, bridges, and public transportation to make Burien a more livable and connected community.

 

• Homelessness: I will work to address the root causes of homelessness and provide more affordable housing options for all residents.

 

• Affordable housing: I will promote affordable housing and a living wage to ensure that everyone has a safe and affordable place to live.

 

• Public safety: I will work to ensure that our police department is adequately resourced to do its work to meet the community's needs. I will also support stronger gun safety laws to prevent gun violence in our schools and communities.

 

• Economic development: I will work to support our small businesses and create a vibrant economy that benefits all residents.

 

• Environmental protection: I will work to protect our environment and ensure that Burien is a sustainable community for future generations.

 

I believe that Burien is a special place, and I'm committed to working with all of you to make it even better. I ask for your vote on November 7, 2023.
